Taylor Concrete LLC provides septic tank pumping for homeowners, farms, and businesses throughout South Georgia. We are based in Wray, Georgia, and we have worked on septic systems across this region for years, from single family homes on rural lots to commercial systems handling far heavier daily volume.
Why Septic Tanks Need Pumping
A septic tank separates wastewater into three layers. Solids settle to the bottom as sludge, grease and lighter material rise to the top as scum, and the liquid in between flows out to the drain field.
The tank is designed to hold those solid layers, not to dispose of them. As sludge and scum accumulate, the space available for separation shrinks. Eventually solids begin carrying over into the drain field, where they clog the soil and stop it absorbing effluent. Once a drain field fails, it usually has to be replaced, which is a far bigger job than routine maintenance.
The United States Environmental Protection Agency recommends that household septic systems be inspected regularly and pumped as needed to prevent exactly this kind of failure.
Signs Your Septic Tank Needs Pumping
Most systems show warning signs before they fail. Contact us if you notice any of the following:
- Slow draining sinks, tubs, or toilets across the whole property rather than a single fixture
- Gurgling sounds in drains or toilets
- Sewage odors near the tank, over the drain field, or inside the building
- Standing water or unusually green, fast growing grass over the drain field
- Sewage backing up into the lowest drains in the building
- Alarms sounding on a pump tank or dosing system
A single slow drain is usually a plumbing problem. Several at once, particularly alongside any of the other signs above, points to the tank.
How Often Should a Septic Tank Be Pumped
The right interval depends on the system and the property, not on a fixed rule. The factors that matter most are:
- Tank capacity relative to the number of people using it
- How many people live or work on the property
- Water usage, including laundry volume and the number of fixtures in use
- Whether a garbage disposal is in use, which increases solids significantly
- Whether the system serves a business or agricultural operation with heavier loading
The University of Georgia Cooperative Extension publishes guidance on septic system maintenance for Georgia property owners that covers these factors in more detail.
No Service History?
If you have no service history for your system, or you have recently bought the property, the sensible first step is an inspection so the tank can be assessed directly rather than guessed at.
What Our Septic Pumping Service Includes

- 01Locating and opening the tank access lids
- 02Inspecting the tank, baffles, and lids for visible damage or wear
- 03Pumping out accumulated sludge, liquid, and scum
- 04Assessing the condition of the system and the drain field area
- 05Transport and disposal of the waste
- 06A clear account of what we found and what the system needs next
If we find a problem during the service, such as a cracked lid, a failed baffle, or a drain field showing signs of saturation, we will tell you plainly and explain the options. Because we also handle septic installation and repair, there is no need to bring in a second contractor to carry out the work.
Residential, Agricultural, and Commercial Systems
We pump systems across the full range of properties in our area. Rural homes and farms make up much of our work, and these often sit on older systems with limited service history. We also service rental properties, where owners frequently have no record of when the tank was last pumped, and commercial sites where higher wastewater volume means systems need attention more often than a standard residential tank.
Our grading and site work experience is directly relevant here. Understanding how ground conditions and drainage behave on a property is part of assessing why a system is struggling, not just clearing the tank.
Protecting Your Property and Your Investment
A septic system is significant infrastructure, and the drain field is the part most likely to fail when maintenance is neglected. Regular pumping protects it. It also prevents wastewater surfacing in your yard, protects groundwater on your property, and keeps the land usable.
If you are preparing to sell, a system with a recent service record removes one more obstacle from the process.
